GED Orientation

Everything you need to know before you begin your journey toward a GED credential.

What Is the GED®?

The GED® (General Educational Development) test is a high school equivalency credential recognized by employers and colleges across the United States. Passing the GED® demonstrates that you have the academic skills and knowledge equivalent to a high school graduate.

The GED® consists of four subject tests: Reasoning Through Language Arts (RLA), Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies. You can take the tests one at a time, at your own pace.

RLAReasoning Through Language Arts
MathMathematical Reasoning
SciScience
SSSocial Studies

You can take each subject test separately, at your own pace.

The Orientation Process

Before starting classes, all new students go through an enrollment process. Here is what to expect:

Contact Us or Walk In

Register online through our portal or walk in at Culpeper Baptist Church. No appointment is necessary at the Culpeper Baptist Church location on Saturday mornings.

Show Valid ID

Bring a valid photo ID (driver's license, state ID, passport, or other government-issued ID) to verify your identity and eligibility.

Complete an Assessment

You will take a brief academic assessment (TABE or similar) to help us place you in the right level of instruction. This is not a test you can fail — it simply helps us understand where you are starting from.

Meet Your Instructor

After assessment, you will be matched with an instructor or enrolled in online classes, and given a class schedule that fits your availability. PRACEP instructors are here to help you prepare — at no cost to you. Whether you are just starting out or returning after a break, we will meet you where you are.

Begin Classes

Classes are free of charge. You will receive study materials and guidance from a dedicated instructor as you work toward your GED credential.

  • Proof of age (if ID does not include date of birth)
